Computational Complexity of the Perfect Matching Problem in Hypergraphs with Subcritical Density

چکیده
In this paper we consider the computational complexity of deciding the existence of a perfect matching in certain classes of dense k-uniform hypergraphs. It has been known that the perfect matching problem for the classes of hypergraphs H with minimum ((k l)-wise) vertex degree o(H) at least clV(H)1 is NP-complete for c< -!;; and trivial for c 2': ~, leaving the status of the problem with c in the interval [-!;;, ~) widely open. In this paper we show, somehow surprisingly, that ~ is not the threshold for tractability of the perfect matching problem , and prove the existence of an E > 0 such that the perfect matching problem for the class of hypergraphs H with o(H) 2': (~ E)IV(H)I is solvable in polynomial time. This seems to be the first polynomial time algorithm for the perfect matching problem on hypergraphs for which the existence problem is nontrivial. In addition, we consider parallel complexity of the problem, which could be also of independent interest .

On the computational complexity of finding a minimal basis for the guess and determine attack
Guess-and-determine attack is one of the general attacks on stream ciphers. It is a common cryptanalysis tool for evaluating security of stream ciphers. The effectiveness of this attack is based on the number of unknown bits which will be guessed by the attacker to break the cryptosystem. In this work, we present a relation between the minimum numbers of the guessed bits and uniquely restricted...
متن کاملOn the inverse maximum perfect matching problem under the bottleneck-type Hamming distance
Given an undirected network G(V,A,c) and a perfect matching M of G, the inverse maximum perfect matching problem consists of modifying minimally the elements of c so that M becomes a maximum perfect matching with respect to the modified vector. In this article, we consider the inverse problem when the modifications are measured by the weighted bottleneck-type Hamming distance. We propose an alg...
متن کاملComputational Complexity of the Hamiltonian Cycle Problem in Dense Hypergraphs
We study the computational complexity of deciding the existence of a Hamiltonian Cycle in some dense classes of k-uniform hypergraphs. Those problems turned out to be, along with the hypergraph Perfect Matching problems, exceedingly hard, and there is a renewed algorithmic interest in them. In this paper we design a polynomial time algorithm for the Hamiltonian Cycle problem for k-uniform hyper...
متن کاملPerfect f-matchings and f-factors in hypergraphs - A combinatorial approach
We prove characterizations of the existence of perfect f -matchings in uniform mengerian and perfect hypergraphs. Moreover, we investigate the f -factor problem in balanced hypergraphs. For uniform balanced hypergraphs we prove two existence theorems with purely combinatorial arguments, whereas for non-uniform balanced hypergraphs we show that the f -factor problem is N P-hard.
متن کاملFast Least Square Matching
Least square matching (LSM) is one of the most accurate image matching methods in photogrammetry and remote sensing. The main disadvantage of the LSM is its high computational complexity due to large size of observation equations. To address this problem, in this paper a novel method, called fast least square matching (FLSM) is being presented. The main idea of the proposed FLSM is decreasing t...
